Chris spent about a week in the hospital earlier this month. He had been having some issues urinating - actually he always had some issues since he had wilms. The bladder wasn’t emptying normally and actually backed up to his remaining kidney. He had a massive infection. He was admitted to the hospital and was in kidney failure and was having liver issues as well. Severe sepsis. Low blood pressure, anemic, renal insufficiency. Slowly over the week with the right antibiotics he started feeling better. He did to have a suprapubic catheter put in to evacuate the bladder and all the sludge that was in there. We still have to go back to the urologist to develop the long term strategy so this doesn’t happen again. However, last week he was able to return to school. He’s a freshman at Cal State Fullerton and so that was a bit of normalcy. This is our picture when I made him take me to the movies last weekend to get out of the house. Long term affects of all that chemo and radiation I guess…but we have him and other then this little set back…he is doing well. All his labs returned to normal this week - so that is a relief.
