Journal entry by Christine Thorn

It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since my diagnosis. In some ways it seems like it was just yesterday, in others it feels like it was a lifetime ago.

On Tuesday, March 6th I had my second routine PET scan. I met with my oncologist yesterday and she said it looks great! Everything looks stable and there is no evidence of active metastatic disease!! Feeling so grateful for science, food and spiritual healing, and all the prayers that continue to pour in. Currently, I am on a mixture of hormonal suppressants, CDK inhibitors, and I just started zometa which is an infusion that strengthens my bones to help prevent reoccurrence. We have been working closely with my oncologist to figure out my CDK dosage, as my white blood cell counts kept dropping too much with the initial dose. As much as I wish it was a sprint, fighting this disease is a marathon that will last the rest of my life. It’s exhausting- but hearing the results from my most up to date scans makes the side effects from the all the medications worth it (I say as I’m laying on the couch in pain from my infusion yesterday).

Thank you to everyone who continues to check in and are sending prayers our way!
