Newest Update

Journal entry by Paula Huber

Chrissy was discharged from Mayo hospital late October and has been cared for by family members. She is still undiagnosed. 💔

Previously, she was on high doses of steroids which helped shrink the tumor. The  plan was to taper her off slowly, until the steroids are out of her system. (Just a reminder- steroids can mask/hide Lymphoma Cancer in scans). Once completely out of her system, they will scan her about 3-4 months later. This should clarify to see if this truly is CNS Lymphoma (central nervous system cancer of the brain) or an autoimmune disease.

Needless to say, with the tapering of steroids (and now completely off of them), she has started declining. All of our family has been helping out, taking turns spending time with and caring for her, but it has become difficult to always have eyes on her 24/7.

I called her primary doctor and he moved up a scheduled appointment immediately to re-evaluate her due to her recent changes. After that appointment Chrissy was admitted to a local hospital to be evaluated again for OT, PT, and speech. The hospital is looking for the best way to keep her safe. Chrissy agrees she needs to be at a facility where she can be monitored at all times.

We are all tired, frustrated, and impatiently waiting for answers. We pray for the best. 🙏🏻 She definitely still has some feistiness in her, and we love it!!! It is in those moments we still see our Chrissy. ❤️  Those moments make us smile. They bring us joy and laughter, and they remind us to stay hopeful and to keep moving forward.
