Journal entry by Chris Sumsky —
As I have shared previously, I never expected to be a two-time cancer survivor, yet here I am, just THAT.
The surgery on Monday went pretty well. A bit longer than the standard of 2-3 hours, mine took Dr. Belew and team close to 5 hours. Mostly having to do with the size of my prostate. Which I am happy to say is NO LONGER MINE! :-). I am so thankful to have it and the cancer it had in it out of my body.
Now we are in recovery mode. I have some followup appointments in the next couple of weeks. Once those are completed, we will be in the extended recovery period. In the meantime, I am resting (I really am), and focusing on my initial recovery. My stomach feels like it has been used as a punching bag, but the pain is tollerable and worth knowing that I am once again CANCER FREE.
I am hopeful that now Cancer will leave me alone as I clearly have the ability to kick its butt!!
Thank you ALL, for the thoughts, prayers, and notes of encouragement. They have helped me stay upbeat and positive while going through this latest journey.
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. - Isaiah 41:10
