Chris’s Story

Site created on September 20, 2022

On September 19th, Chris Springob was rushed to the ER in San Francisco after collapsing at his work.  It was discovered that his brain was bleeding severely, swollen and that he had suffered a stroke. Because of his high blood pressure, the amount of blood that got into his brain was high and caused immediate damage.  While the bleeding has stopped, he is nonresponsive and on life support.  You can help our family with medical expenses by donating here: https://gofund.me/2b192033

Newest Update

Journal entry by CathyAnn Springob

It's been 4 weeks, and today was an extremely difficult day for me ---- probably my worst yet.  But there was a ray of sunshine amidst all the pain.  A lovely woman from the Organ Donation Network called me to see how I was doing and to update me on the use of Chris's organs.  They were able to use both kidneys, the liver, both corneas, as well as bone and skin grafts.  The pancreas went for research, which she assured me is very important.

The kidneys, liver & corneas all went to males in the SF Bay Area.  The grafts are frozen and can last for 3 years until needed.  As my sister pointed out, a liver is usually life or death for someone.  And a kidney can eliminate the need for dialysis 3x a week for close to 6 hours per session.  Thank you, Chris, for giving the gift of life.
