Journal entry by Tami Schroeder

Well we’ve been home 12 days today. We’ve had a couple small bumps along the way, that thankfully we were able to over come quickly.

The food changes have been going well. It is extremely hard to find anything that is convenient (fast food, or prepared) that meets our dietary needs. Low sodium and low sugar is nearly impossible to find. Looks like we will be visiting the Festival salad bar when we are out for appointments. Jimmy John’s is really good too. It just would be nice to find some warm food that meets those needs. If anyone out there has any suggestions we would greatly appreciate them.

Other than that, it is so nice to be home again. Chris is on the mend, and he has been up and about. We were up to see our granddaughter Gloria last Friday which was refreshing and wonderful. Chris has had multiple appt. in La Crosse, and a phone follow up with his surgical staff. They’ve all been shocked at how well he is doing after all he went through. We have learned through his appts. just how grave Chris’ condition was. They cannot believe he is even here, let alone kill in’ the recovery! LOL

He had three days in the first week when he felt more soreness in his chest and ribs. That was due to the fact that he was a lot more active in those three days, than he had been in the 19 days he was in the hospital all put together. But he is feeling stronger and the Drs. are impressed.

We are still working on getting his home monitor to hook-up. Finally got the conversion kit to take it from cellular to WiFi but, it can’t find a WiFi signal grrrrr! Even sitting on top of the booster itself it does not find a signal.!🤨 I just hate to say it, but this new fiber optic stuff that was supposed to be so much better, is no way near better. Our WiFi got worse after the change over, not better. So I will be looking into finding other solutions tonight. Uffda!!!!
