Journal

Hey friends - it's been a while...

Sorry it has taken me so long to give an update. I have no excuse other than I've been lazy about writing.  I feel like I need to write something today as it is exactly one year to the day since my 17 hour life saving surgery last year in Australia.

First, to those of you whose prayers and contributions made it possible...thank you.  As most of you know, in August 2020 I had figured that the heavens were not going to let me live and I was being called home... I learned that sometimes the will of God can be changed by the faith and love of others and I was given a miracle that extended my life.

Second, many of you have continued to reach out and be uplifting and encouraging to me on my journey of recovery over these last twelve months.

Finally, to God - I just want to say "Thank You. I love you".  I would not be here without the hand of God over my life.

I am doing pretty good health-wise. I still have abdominal pain - not sure if that will ever go away - and I still get fatigued...but I'm alive!  I am able to walk - for those of you who don't remember, for nearly 6 months after my surgery I was paralyzed in my right leg.  I still have neuropathy in that leg but at least I can walk <smile>.  My mind works. I can eat almost anything - still on TPN (total parenatal nutrition) 4 out of 7 days a week because I have what is known as "short bowel syndrome" - basically my small intestines aren't long enough to absorb all of the nutrients I eat so I have to have TPN, supplementally. Probably will for the rest of my life.

Anyway, you don't really know what you've got until it is (almost) taken away.  If I could write something that would be helpful, it would be to say, we are ALL on a shot-clock.  If you haven't had your health taken away, take a moment to be self-aware.  It could be taken any time.  Take a moment to count your blessings - seriously, enumerate them.  Doing this will establish an attitude of gratitude in your life.  Almost anything can be overcome when you have gratitude in your life.

Grateful to be spending this Christmas holy-day season with my family and loved ones.  Again, thank you for your love, light and prayers on my (and my family's) behalf.   Grateful to you all...

If we haven't connected in a while, please reach out and let's chat. You can reach me at 435.216.2640 - please send me a direct message and I'll call you back.
