Chris’s Story

Site created on September 23, 2020

As most of you know, our parents, Chris and Carrie Miller were in a severe car accident on Sunday, September 20th on their way home from visiting our brother Samuel at Seward College in Liberal, Kansas. Carrie suffered minor injuries and Chris had broken ribs.  On Monday, September 21st, they were in route home to Dallas but Chris fell ill in Norman, OK and became unresponsive.  He was taken to the OU Trauma hospital in Oklahoma City where it was determined he had a subdural hematoma (brain bleed) that required emergency surgery.  He had a surgery early Tuesday morning and had a second one later in the morning as he began hemorrhaging again.  We will provide updates as we have them. Please join us in prayer for healing for our father and for peace and strength for our mother as she sits right beside him.

We will have a Memorial Service honoring Dad this Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 2:00PM at Prestoncrest Church of Christ in Dallas. We will follow social distancing measures and masks will be required. The service will also be livestreamed on Prestoncrest's YouTube channel:
https://www.youtube.com/user/prestoncrest.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the following charities in Dad's name:

Susan G. Komen: https://www.komen.org/
Dad was an amazing caretaker for mom in 2008 when she had Breast Cancer. He held our family together during that time.

Mission of Hope Haiti: https://missionofhope.com/
Dad and Jordan went on a mission trip to Haiti in 2013 and Dad had a special place in his heart for the Haitians he met there.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF): https://www.jdrf.org/
Dad's older brother, Todd, lived with diabetes for almost 40 years. Dad admired Todd very much. We rejoice knowing that they are together again in Heaven.

Additionally, this is our mom's new address:
