Chris’s Story

Site created on February 13, 2024

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

As a reminder, we have set up a GiveButter page for anyone who is able to donate to help with medical bills that directly linked in the "Ways to Help" tab. Any prompts from the CaringBridge website to donate are for donations to the site, not to Chris and Allison. GiveButter and Venmo are the only place set up to donate to them.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Allison Lather-Eischens

This has been my favorite update to write so far. We had a busy day again today with more blood work, a hematology visit, and Chris's two-month check PET scan. Chris's blood work is still looking good. His liver enzymes are staying in normal range and his blood counts are showing that his bone marrow is still recovering. His PET scan results were the best thing that we could have hoped for. The attached pictures of his PET scans show the incredible difference that the chemo has made in just a few months. The first one shows all the areas that "light up" on the PET scan. All the white (minus the blue crossed out areas that are brain, kidneys, and bladder) are active and growing cancer. And that's a lot of cancer. The second image is Chris's scan from today. All of those white spots are gone!

The mass in his chest still has some active areas and his spine still shows some reactivity, so we will continue course with at least four more months of chemo. His thyroid test also showed and is confirmed by the PET scan that it is irritated by the chemo, which is an expected side effect.

Overall, we are focused on the tremendous amount of positives that keep coming and are thankful for the continuous love and support that people have shown.
