Journal entry by Lexi Crutchfield

Hello everyone,

This past Friday, dad woke up in a immense amount of pain throughout this abdomen. We were able to get him into the doctor quickly in the morning. They did some blood work as well as a CT scan. Unfortunately, we recieved some bad news.

The cancer has spread throughout the liver and the spleen. They are incredibly enlarged and are pushing against eachother which is causing a lot of pain for him. The cancer has also travelled into his spine and  into his spinal cord. At this point in the journey, treatment will no longer take care of this nasty cancer. As a family we decided that hospice would be best at this point to take over care. They are really focusing on controlling his pain and keeping him comfortable.

Dad has fought his cancer for a year and 8 months. One full year and 8 months. He has consistently beaten the odds, kepts his spirits up, and fought so hard for so long. We were able to enjoy so many incredible moments over the past years, and if we learned anything from it all - was to never take any moment for granted. From the start of our journey, we had felt so much support and love from the community and we never stopped feeling this love from all of you.  We truly cannot thank you enough - from the bottom of our hearts. Please continue to keep him in your prayers throughout the next few weeks.
