Journal entry by Cheryl Cohen —
Hello family and friends.
I have not posted in a while. Progress is happening, although slow. Last week, we went to Duke for my 6 week check-up. Things are progressing nicely. I did get slightly reprimanded, as I want to push myself. My doc indicated that I need to be resting, not pushing myself. That being said, she did want me walking as much as possible.
Most of my days consist of a walk with the dogs, and/or with a friend. Other than that, I have tried yoga, but find it wipes me out. My body is just not ready for that yet. My days are spent reading and playing some games on my iPad. I find it hard to stay still, but am forcing myself.
I have pretty much been in isolation this entire time. For the first three months after transplant, I am extremely vulnerable to the slightest of infection. So, I stay away from everyone. I have had some friends come visit. We stay outside 10 feet away from one another.
My wonderful sister was here for 2 weeks. She came shortly after we got home from Durham. We have never spent this long time together. It was perfect; she cooked and cleaned, we played a lot of Mexican Train and just chilled. We did walk daily. And, she brought me MandelBrite. Yummy…….
Signing off now. If you want to chat, I am a phone call, text or e-mail away. Please reach out via those avenues.
Much love,
Cheryl
