Cheryl’s Story

Site created on December 17, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting!

As most of you know, my mom (Cheryl Lowney) was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in November 2020. She has been fighting this cancer beast like the true warrior she is! She had a PET Scan this week following her first 9 week round of treatments every 3 weeks. She found out the fantastic news that she is in remission!!!  She works hard to be upbeat and continues to look on the bright side while undergoing intensive chemo treatments, tests, meds and doctor appointments. She and my dad recently found out that their insurance will not cover much of her 2020 medical bills. As of right now, they owe over $206,000 in medical bills which will continue to grow. That is what insurance will NOT pay so far. We do know that she has a minimum of at least another 9-12 weeks of treatments coming up....and a lot more medical bills to follow. In order to try to help ease some of their burden, I'm starting a Go Fund Me. I know it is very difficult times for many during this pandemic. Anything you can do to help will be so very much appreciated! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
If you would like to help my parents please follow the steps below to make a donation: Go through the "Ways to Help" page from Caring Bridge then choose Go Fund Me site for Help Team Cheryl Kay-Lowney Beat Cancer. I would like to give a special thanks to a couple dear friends of my mom's, Deb Stokes and Suzy Weatherby! They have been helping our family greatly with many things since the beginning of her journey and continue to do so! They have also been a huge part of preparing and contributing to the Caring Bridge and Go Fund Me! Thank you so much to the both of you, it's appreciated more than words can express!

Journal entry by Cheryl Lowney

Hello All!   Such wonderful news to share.  I am officially cancer free and done with chemo. !!!
I am so blessed and will  never forget how very much the power of prayer and love/support of friends/family have in ones healing process.
I also think the kindness and wonderful care I got from Dr Vera along with the entire Cancer Center team made this journey much less scary.
They want me to keep my port in for at least 3 months, “just in case”.  Moved my first Covid vaccine up to today.  Doc said it will take a few months to get my full energy back and maybe a little longer for my chemo brain to sharpen again.  I can handle the wait!!
I am so sorry I have been more than slow in getting thank yous out.   I will work harder on that.  Please just know I am so grateful to everyone for sticking with me during this time.
I do believe this chapter in my life has changed me....in many ways for the better.
Well, as Bugs Bunny would say, “that’s all for now, folks “.  Love, Peace and Happiness to all!!❤️
