Cheryl’s Story

Site created on February 25, 2021

The Cizek family is using this site to keep family and friends updated in one place. We are not asking for financial donations therefore, if you donate on this site, it will go directly to CaringBridge. At this time, we are asking for prayers and words of hope and encouragement.

Early December, 2020, Cheryl began having stomach and back pain. Food and drinks also became less appealing. Her primary care doctor ran some tests but everything was "normal". After trying several medications, Cheryl went for a abdominal CT scan on February 21st. The doctor called on Tuesday, February 23rd. with results we never thought we would hear, "you have pancreatic cancer".  The following day, which happened to be their 49th wedding anniversary, Jerry and Cheryl went to see an oncologist. The oncologist diagnosed Cheryl with stage 4 pancreatic cancer because the cancer has metastasized to the liver. Today Cheryl will have a lung scan and Monday she is scheduled for biopsies of her liver and pancreas. The results will determine the treatment plan so she can immediately start fighting this cancer. The family will continue to update this site as information is received.
