Journal entry by Maria Ruoro

Cheri, Tracy, and I had a fun girls weekend at Tracy and Dan's home up on Upper Whitefish. It is located about 20 minutes north of Brainerd. Cheri drove and we arrived Friday at about 4:45. We picked up snacks to take to Tracy's. Once we arrived, we got settled then Tracy made tacos and we ate supper.  Afterwards, we hung out in our jammies, eating treats while catching up on the last few decades.

Cheri and Tracy reconnected a few months ago. I recently became reaquainted with Tracy due to the Cancer Fundraiser we recently held for Cheri. Tracy is the one that initiated the idea of a benefit for Cheri. It was delightful working with Tracy while planning the benefit. It really turned out to be much greater than we imagined. The three of us talked about that and other things until midnight then went to bed.

Saturday, we ate breakfast and stayed in our jammies until after 1:00pm then embarked to Nisswa. We had dinner in Nisswa after a day full of shopping at one of the darling boutiques and at Loidé where we taste-tested various olive oils, vinaigrette, and salt. The burgers at Main Street Ale were succulent and perfectly prepared. We spent the rest of the evening hanging out in our jammies, chatting, listening to music and we watched, "This is Where I Leave You", a heartfelt movie about love, life, and feelings, starring Jane Fonda.

Tomorrow, we'll stop for some black licorice ice cream on the way back to "The Cities".

Great memories made and good times had by all. Thank you Dan and Tracy for inviting us up for a girl's weekend. Thank you, Dan, for getting out of the house. You have a beautiful home!

Thank you God, that Cheri had the strength to go on a weekend getaway. Cheri had some aches in her ribs. She is also dealing with some other sad news. The weekend served as an escape and a moment to rejuvenate. I look forward to many, many more with our dear Cheri.

Love,
Maria
