Newest Update

Journal entry by Denise Waldie

I’m sorry I haven’t updated sooner!

Last Saturday, September 2nd Curt and I were at the hospital with Chase when we were surprised with good news.

We had thought Chase would be staying in the hospital until midweek sometime. His nurse informed us that he was being released the next day. Which was a bit of a shock, but it was perfect. It was my birthday and the one year anniversary since Chase had arrived at HCMC!! We’ve come full circle! And Happy Birthday to me!! This year was so much better than last year!

We busted him out of the hospital around noon last Sunday. 2 of his brothers, Colton and Jarron and Samara were here to celebrate with us. This week we have stayed in Minneapolis to continue therapy. Yesterday he got a soft cast to keep his left arm straight while he’s sleeping. His OT therapist has worked hard this week to get his neck brace to fit right.  He’s been feeling pretty good so we’ve been able to reduce his pain meds.

Yesterday Chase had a follow up appointment at the Burn and Wound clinic. I didn’t realize that they were going to be removing some of the stitches from his left hand. It was very painful and she wasn’t able to remove all of them, so we will be going back next Tuesday. I will make sure to give him a little extra pain medication before we go. And after that appointment and therapy we will be saying goodbye to Minneapolis for now!

He has one little area on his neck that hasn’t healed fully. It’s by his Adam’s Apple. It’s the area where he had the hematoma. If you’ve been praying for him please pray that area will heal completely.

We thank you for your love, support, and continued prayers. Now that we’re close to going home I think we’re all feeling better. Have a wonderful weekend!!!
