Chase’s Story

Site created on May 4, 2021

All I can think about when I think about "Chase's story" is her sass, her love for life, her love for friendships, parties, dancing, Moana, Raya and the last dragon, Poppy, "The Bear thing" (Grizzy and the Lemmings) and pizza.  She loves to push things around, adores her siblings, swimming, the beach, and "activities".  She loves to "fight" with Reid in her hulk mask and is confident she is the best super hero around...she's not wrong.

I could write an entire novel about how much Chase loves life.  But here we are, a twist in the story.  Just a chapter we didn't see coming at 2.5 years old, in what will be a long and happy novel.

I spoke with Robin at caring bridge and asked her if you can get a refund.  She said, "Yes, absolutely!  We want to honor the intentions of the donors.  Anyone who has donated thinking the money was going to you can contact us for a refund.  They can reply to the donation receipt they received or call us at 651-789-2300. "  She said the refund would happen fairly quickly once they are contacted.  Our sincere apologies for any confusion this has caused.

Journal entry by Laurin Hall

Happy one YEAR sweet Chase! It feels like yesterday and also a lifetime ago when we first showed up at the pediatrician and this whole chapter began.

Chase went to her oncologist in December 2022 and again in March 2023 for labs and to meet with her oncologist. Her labs look good. Her AST is a liver test and still mildly elevated but the oncologist continues to reinforce that it is expected given the chemo. Her vitamin D is also low (related to her diet choices and not LCH so we started a multivitamin). Her physical exam is perfect.

September 12th is her next appointment. Now that she has gotten through the first year she goes to CHLA every 6 months rather than every 3 months.

Chase is doing great! She is in preschool, she started reading (which she LOVES), and is very social. We are so proud of her and so thankful to have this first year behind us.

On 3/8 we celebrated her one year in remission with pizza (her request) and cupcakes. We celebrated again over the weekend with sushi (her request) and cake when we could all be together as a family. She loved celebrating and rejoicing that her bad guys have been gone for a whole year!

Thank you to all of you that love her so much and continue to keep her complete recovery in your prayers. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
