Popeyes Fried Chicken! Brought it & ate dinner with Mom at her place. She was in a good mood, and we had great conversation while we ate. She ate with gusto, exclaiming how good her chicken tasted with her sweet tea.
In the 8 months she's been there, Mom has stabilized in every way- physically, mentally, emotionally. She no longer receives respite care from hospice, and qualifies as a Medicaid patient. Is the care wonderful? As I told Mom tonight when she said she hated the place, "It's better than some, and worse than others." I still believe we got lucky when we found BC, and they accepted her. Our biggest issue is missing clothes. They do her laundry but hers isn't always making it back to her; yes, her name is on every piece.
So am I grateful? Oh yes. This time last year I was starting a job at a new school, and Mom lived at my home. but fell daily, her COPD was bad, memory shot, and balance nonexistent.
On the upside- she's made friends with patients and staff who seem to care for her a lot. A great blessing since I have 180 sixth graders this year.
