Charlie’s Story

Site created on February 10, 2009

Dear Friends and family,  This journey began in February 2009 and has had some detours along the way, but once again I'm back at Mayo MN. A little different as there's an additional twist this time as no Lymphoma. but rather lung Cancer. It's good for me to write about my journey and very reassuring to have your support and prayers. The good Lord with a little help from me and prayers from you will see me through this! Charlie/Dad

Journal entry by Charlie Rogers

After watching Finnegan today I realize that we both need to get outside every so often.  Plus Pat needs me gone, at least for or a little while. So I ran away for a couple of moments and found a delightful grapefruit flavored IPA at the Exchange.  I'm really going to storage area to check on all our junk and try to see if there's anything we could sell or for that matter give away,
The IPA is great but US Bank statium is quit compared to this place at 4:50pm.  People seem to be in a mood to really let off steam. I'll probably come here a little earlier or find someplace else in the future.
It is a beautiful fall day in MN today and everyone that can is out and about. We missed the boat as we should have played golf.  Tomorrow it's supposed to rain.....for the rest of the week I guess.
Not much golf left this year in MN. Maybe we'll have to go south for a couple of months soon.
Saturday we go to Lisa and John's to be with Lola. They are going to watch Jake play against Northern State out of Aberdeen, SD. I just realized my grandma Myrtle Rogers attended Northern to be a teacher 110 years or so ago. I think sometime between 1910 & 1913.  Small world.  Jake should start at right guard if the coach has half a brain. Based on his past decisions he has made I'm not to sure he has such.  I've watched the kid playing center hike the ball high and often over the quarterbacks head for a year and a half.  The problem is the timing let alone the fumbles lost.  He has a great center that currently is playing right guard.  (I supposed you think Grandpa is a little bias, right?).
Enough for now.  I'm taking Pat home some great Walleye Fingers and will be a hero at least for tonight.
       Press on Regardless!
Love Charlie/Dad
