Charles Hayes Jr. Obituary

Charles Marshall Hayes, 57, of St. Paul MN, formerly of
Springfield IL, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 30th 2023 at
The University of Minnesota Hospital.

Charles is survived by his wife of 17 years, Kitty Kremer of St. Paul, as well as
his mother and stepfather, LaVerne and Peter Wilford, sister Jacqueline M.
Hayes, nephews Bryson and Jesiah of Springfield Illinois. Several aunts, uncles,
cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, Charles M. Hayes Sr. and his
brother Darshan "Dosh" Hayes, and is survived by his children and
grandchildren, Tia (Oliver and Harper), Daddy- aka Jazmin (Dion), Elijah (Isley).

At the ripe age of eighteen, with no "Plan B," Charles left his home in Springfield
Illinois to pursue his passion playing bass. Fully dedicated to his passion,
Charles traveled the world playing a wide variety of genres and innumerable
venues, from dive bars to sold out stadiums. During his time with Leroy Parnell,
he was one of only a few African Americans to grace the stage of Nashville's
Grand Ole Opry. Being a world class musician, you only had to witness Charles
perform once to be able to distinguish his play style from outside the venue, even
from down the street.
He will be missed by many family, friends, and musicians near and far.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 7th 5-8 at The Minnesota
Music Cafe. Minnesota Music Cafe, 501 Payne Ave, St Paul, MN 55130.  Please click here for more details.
