Journal entry by Danielle Maloni

We've made it home to Idaho Falls! Charles was released from the rehab center last Thursday; such a joyous day that was! Thankfully my brother and his family were in town to help us with Alex and to transport all the stuff we accumulated in Salt Lake (tons of cards, books, clothes...and a wheelchair)

Charles had a follow up with his surgeon on the afternoon of his release date. The xray showed his C1&C2 fractures look relatively similar but *may be* starting to heal on their own. This is the ultimate hope! He has monthly follow ups with his surgeon to track this progress (xray in August, CT scan in September) For now, that means he is in the c-collar for the foreseeable future. If they don't heal on their own, surgery to fuse C1&C2 would be the next step...that is not the outcome we desire!

Intake appointments for outpatient OT and PT were yesterday. Charles will be on a 2x weekly regime with both of those therapists. That also means lots of down time at home to work on pinching activities to continue progress on his right hand and tons of walking & balance activities to increase strength in the right ankle.

Since we arrived back home, Alex has started exploring solid foods! I wanted to wait for Charles to be able to participate in that before beginning the adventure. It's been so much fun to watch him and her interact over new flavors and textures!

Grateful to ALL of you for the continued love, encouragement and support! All my love ~Danielle
