Journal entry by Matt Brenes —
Hello all,
Today is a very big day for Charise. She is officially at Day 100 post transplant. What does this mean for her??
- No more needing to have someone with her at the house round the clock
- No more twice a week or even once a week doctor's appointment's (now only every other week)
- She's able to start eliminating some of the transplant drugs she's been taking
- She can have her house plants back in the house
- She can go out and get a pedicure
- She can go out to eat
- She can drive to the store by herself
She can do all this because she is on track with her recovery. Still a long road to go, but the light at the end of the tunnel is starting to get a bit brighter. She still gets tired really easily and needs to rest, but she's getting stronger every week.
Big shout out to everyone who pitched in during these last 100 days..... From those who helped with rides to/from doctor's appointments to those who provided meals to those friend's/family members who stayed with Charise when I was away at work or at soccer with Bella. Special thanks to my mom (Judi), Charise's mom (Dian) and my oldest sister (Kristen), who rotated staying at our house for a large portion of the 100 days.
As always, I'm grateful for every one of our family and friends.
Matt
