Chandra’s Story

Site created on January 24, 2019

Dear family and friends,

Many of you know that Chandra went in for a routine thyroid surgery, Thursday January 17th. After a successful removal of her thyroid, she developed a blood clot that they needed to go in and relieve that evening. Thank God she was at the hospital because the blood clot was obstructing her breathing. They acted immediately and took her into emergency surgery which left her with a temporary trach.
So many of you have been asking about her progress and we are so thankful for all the prayers, phone calls and positive thoughts. We wanted a place to send all updates and provide you all with a place to leave well wishes. She has come a long way but has a long road of recovery ahead of her.
We all know Chandra and she would want to reach out to each and every one of you and this is a way to help her stay connected.

"So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you." Deuteronomy 31:6

Thank you again!

Journal entry by Lauren Pannell

Everything went great this morning, and Mom's track has been removed!!  Yay -- Another victory! The next hurdle she will have to overcome is to regain complete use of her voice.  When her doctor was preparing to remove her trach, he took a picture of her voice box, and found that she has a nodule that is keeping her from having the normal use of her voice. The nodule may need to removed later, but for now he is recommending that she just rest her voice.

We are so pleased with her progress and thank God for bringing her so far! We also thank you all for your prayers, support, encouraging words, and anything else you did for Mommy and the rest of our family during this difficult time. Although that chapter of her journey is complete, Mommy still has a few more hurdles to overcome. With the help of God,  her strong will, and your continued prayers and support, we know she will recover and be back to living life to be soon.

Thank you all again! We love you all!
