Last week on the 4th, Chandler had a number of back to back appointments at Nationwide. His 1st one was with Audiology due to a failed OAE hearing screening at the pediatrician's office.  He had been complaining of ear pain on and off about a month ago, and he says "Huh?!" frequently, so we thought we should get it checked out. The pediatrician said no infection and it looks clear, so she referred to Audiology. We got to Nationwide for an 8:30 appt. He did great going through the series of tests- air conduction and bone conduction. In summary, the Audiologist said she can't diagnose ear infections, but it definitely isn't that.. The chemo he received last year is not the type that would cause late effects of hearing loss, so that's good news. She said she does have concern. He needed the volume turned up a bit throughout testing, he was borderline average in some areas. Bone conduction test he passed, I think meaning no inner ear damage or permenant hearing loss. She is referring him to ENT who most likely will either medicate or recommend tubes to drain fluid from the middle ear. Earliest they could schedule us with ENT is end of May and it's on another campus, somewhere in Dublin but still through Nationwide.
Next was Ultrasound. Chandler had to be NPO since last night for that. He did the best he has ever done with U/S,  and results came back clear!
After that, we headed upstairs for the clinic/Oncology follow up appt. He got some breather breakfast/snacks. While in the waiting room, he slid off the couch and bumped his forehead on a table- instant brusing. Soche was crying going into get bloodwork which didn't help, but he did fine with the finger prick. Labs all came back good! He saw the oncologist and nurse practicioner. By this point, he and Hadlie were tired and fighting over everything. It was pretty much chaos while the doctor was in there. He recommends U/S continue every 3 months until 18 months post treatment, then the follow ups will fade out to less frequently. 24 months he thinks is excessive but if we choose to as precautionary, we can.. We then all went downstairs for his chest X-Ray. All looked good! 👍
Lastly was nephrology appt. on the other side of the hospital. He and Hadlie both had appointments but with different doctors. Both doctors thought that was silly but were surprised to hear both kids had the same diagnosis. Chandler's nephrologist said a 2 year follow up is probably all that is necessary. Bp, urine, labs all looked good.
Chandler did great today with all the appointments, but he was definitely tired by the end!
Chandler's wish trip to Disneyland got postponed due to Hadlie's treatment regimen, but we have a new date in place and are counting down the months! 🗓
