Journal entry by Amber Patten —
It has been six months since Chad survived a deadly car crash. 6 months of fighting the odds. Overcoming a long list of medical obstacles. 6 months of love and concern being poured on by friends, families, and colleagues, students and staff of schools, AND strangers from our loving community. We will never forget all the support we received. We love you and strive to pay it forward daily!
Here is the latest update:
I dare say that Chad has RECOVERED!!! He has been released from restrictions by the Heart and Vascular team, the Traumatic Brain Injury team, the maxillofacial team, and general medicine. He, in the last few months has returned to school. He is at EHS and has been taking online classes at Green River community college in the running start program. He has returned to driving, (a safe Honda Pilot WITH AIRBAGS!!!!) running, and snowboarding wearing a full face helmet . Over break, he vacationed with a friend and his family to Hawaii where he fell in love with surfing. He now, is back to hanging out with his first Love BASEBALL and made the Junior Varsity team at EHS. To be nice to his newly restored face, He made the decision to hang up the catchers gear but is enjoying his new positions at 1st base and outfield. We feel so blessed to have healthy and home.
