Chad’s Story

Site created on September 8, 2022

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated on Chad’s health in one place.

On September 7, Chad  was in a two-car accident and quickly life-flighted from Lake Regional to the University of Missouri Hospital. He has broken and dislocated his right hip and has C3 and C7 spinal fractures.

We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Journal entry by Elesha O'Neil

Chad finally made it to Rusk on Tuesday after several delays. They have been focusing on doing an hour of cognitive, speech, and physical therapy each, however, we hope they’ll switch their focus to physical therapy this week. Reality is starting to set in for Chad. He was determined to hug Lily for her birthday next weekend and walk by Christmas, but doctors think it will be one and a half to two years before he walks again. This of course puts the pressure on to find a way to pay bills in the meantime, so we ask that you share the GoFundMe link again if you can. 💛

Good news of the week, Chad has received an electric chair and he’ll get to take that one home or one similar. It allowed him to go outside and enjoy the sunshine which was a relief after being stuck inside for so long.
