Chad’s Story

Site created on August 24, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

In early August, Chad was diagnosed with stage 4 squamous cell carcinoma. After numerous tests and scans they found he also had cancer in the lower lobe of his right lung. We were told best case scenario would be if it was an entirely different cancer. After a lung biopsy and bronchoscopy it was confirmed it is an entirely separate cancer! Adenocarcinoma of the lung. They biopsied some lymph nodes and they were clear of cancer! The lung cancer is being treated 1st being there was no sign of metastasis.

After recovering from this surgery for 2-3 weeks Chad will then have surgery to remove the tumor from the floor of his mouth. They will also do reconstructive surgery that day. Chad has a very long road ahead of him but we believe with the love, support and prayers from everyone he can beat this!! He's got a heck of a team fighting right along beside him!!

Journal entry by Charlotte Blom

Good Morning!!
Chad had chemo and immunotherapy yesterday and it went great! He has some swelling in his foot so afterwards we went for an ultrasound to rule out a blood clot and no clot was detected.  Thank God!!!  They think the swelling could be from his previous chemo so we will just keep an eye on it.

We are looking forward to my son and his family visiting this weekend!  We finally get to see my grand daughters!! Its been a very long 4 months!! Thank you again to all who check in on us and pray for us!!  We are forever grateful!!!

Again, when I read Chad the comments on facebook and this site he absolutely loves it!!!  He can feel the love!!!
