If you ever talked to dad on the phone, especially if you tend to drag on and on, you’ve probably heard him say “Toyota” before hanging up. It was his way of saying “goodbye, see ya later, leave me alone now.” Seemed a good title for this post.

Dad passed an hour ago at exactly 3 pm. He died exactly as he wanted. He waited until as many people as possible were in the room—Nick, Cathy, Sharon, mom, me, Mila, Petey, and even the nurse Patti—and really had us hanging on his every breath. I will one day write more about his death, because it was an incredible experience. But the other detail I want to share is that he passed while the Beatles’ song “Let It Be” was playing.
