Cecilia’s Story

Site created on February 9, 2021

Welcome to Cecilia David's CaringBridge web site. We have used it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

During the week of January 25, 2021, our wonderful friend Cecilia David came down with COVID-19 symptoms and tested positive. She reported having severe headaches, aching bones and muscles, a bad cough, and sore throat. Within a few days her oxygen level started to drop, was diagnosed with pneumonia, and was admitted to the hospital. She remained in good spirits but her cough and fever persisted and she was having trouble breathing.

On February 4 while in the ICU her oxygen level dropped so significantly that Cecilia had to be intubated and medically induced into a coma to give her body some space to recover.

On February 11, 8 days after being intubated, Cecilia opened her eyes.

On February 17, she was returned to a medically induced coma to address her low oxygen levels. On March 4 she woke up.

Cecilia was transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation center on March 18.  Rehabilitation care is required to support her recovery from the virus’ damaging effects on her body.  She is expected to remain there until her overall health improves.

As her journey to recovery continues, please keep Cecilia in your thoughts and prayers.

Journal entry by Cecilia David

After a couple of months, I finally am home and will continue with my therapy sessions until I fully recover from home.

I am so happy to be with Ally and Migs and to eat good food 😊 I also am able to  sleep better without nurses coming to check on my vitals, sugar level, etc. every few hours.  I am more relaxed and I believe I will recover faster. I may still have sinus infection but I am seeing a specialist this week since the pain isn’t going away.  Other than that, i will do my best to get stronger everyday.

Once again, thank you for the continued prayers and support. May God bless you all! Stay safe always! Much love to you ❤️
