Cece’s liver scans showed no significant changes.

The two tumors we ablated last year are calcified and looking the same. She also has a small tumor we’ve been watching for a long time that we assume to be benign. It looks the same as well.

So we carry on for 3 more months and we’ll scan again in July. Thank you for your continued prayers against any new tumor growth!

In addition to her quarterly liver scans, she has a blood test every month to check her tumor markers. As we’ve shared in the past, this number, her Alpha Feta Protein, needs to be in the single digits. Last year, it got up to 17,000 before we headed to Cincinnati. She finally got to single digits last fall after the ablations and lots of chemo and that’s when we rang the bell at St. Jude. #remission!

Since her bell ringing, in true dramatic Cece fashion, her tumor markers have been creeping up ever so slightly.  This week, they’re now over 18. Without any changes on her scans, there’s no reason to intervene at this point. But we know they’re rising so we have to assume something is brewing. But again, everything looks ok right now so we’ll see what the next scans show and carry on until there’s anything definitive to address.

To state the obvious, we continue to pray for her to be completely free of cancer.

Next up for Cece is a cardiac cath procedure in 2 weeks. They’ll check her pressures and explore ways to improve her blood oxygen saturations. It‘ll give us a good idea of how her heart is doing and whether any significant interventions on her heart are needed anytime soon.

So good news overall this time, even while we hold our breath knowing the future remains uncertain. We’re certain she’s the happiest almost-2 yr old we’ve ever seen, and are enjoying every day with her!

Thankful for your prayers,

JMJJLC
