Journal entry by Cathy Vandoske

Maizy girl turned 9 months yesterday - 6.5 adjusted! Can you believe that this sweet girl started at 1 pound, 7 ounces and 12 inches long to over 13 pounds and 24 inches? If it rains, she'll keep growing 😉

We are so proud of her 🙌 She has met several goals at therapies (before the re-eval date) and is being introduced to new strategies. We are currently working on helping her sit up with minimal support,  rolling and reaching, putting more weight through her hands, drinking more, introducing solids/purees, etc.🥄

Her endocrinology appointment was AWESOME! She is growing and her thyroid levels are looking good. We can continue to monitor her levels locally...and do not need to head to Madison for a year to meet with them vs. Madison 3-4x/year (unless something would be off). GI is happy with her tube site and her proportianal growth. Nutrition will be working with us in increasing feeds, working with her cues vs. us saying how hungry she is, etc. We have an eye doctor coming up as a follow-up to the NICU. Our local pediatrician has been great support as we navigate her - and what her "normal" is.

She is staying busy with the 3x/week therapies, music class, and big brother :) She is very chill and go with the flow. She has a "witching hour" and is one of the few times she cries, sometimes the only time in the day. She loves to watch and observe EVERYTHING. She is curious and in tune with her core people. Over the last few days, many people commented that she sure knows Momma's voice. 🗣

Ez continues to love sister and dote on her. He has been big into "muah" and giving hugs and kisses. Though he has learned to tattle on her ... When she didn't fall asleep in 15 seconds next to him on our bed, he said, "Mama, Maizy isn't going night, night." 🌙

I am glad that Ez is still enjoying swim and various activities/adventures. He is starting music again per his request. He has lots of fun doing whatever he does. He speaks well beyond the 3 word sentences per "normal" development.

We continue to be so grateful for all the love and support. There are just so many people that help keep our life rolling forward to meet the needs of both kids and us. We are VERY appreciative of the sitters that allowed us to have date night after Maizy's appointments on Fridays. Jon and I get very little time together, so we really value and cherish that time together.

I am in the home-ish stretch of the school year. Fourth quarter! This time of year always goes fast. I am looking forward to being home with Ez and Maizy - lots of adventures that I could not do last summer as I was going to many doctor appointments and then on bedrest.

Happy April ❤️
