Cathleen’s Story

Site created on January 8, 2017

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

In December I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. My very first journal entry (1/9) has all of the details. See the journal for these details and updates as I go thru this season of my life. I appreciate everyone's prayers and love during this difficult time for my family and me. For ways to help see the journal entrys (especially the one titled ways to help), my husbands go fund me page, blue apron, or just offer.  DO NOT USE the PLANNER,  having difficulty keeping the planner up to date. With Love.

Journal entry by Cathleen Mingo

Wow. This is such a strange time. I hope all of you are well and healthy.  We have had a lot happen over the past 7+ months to bring me to today. I continue to be doing well with my next Pet scan next month (Nov 6 and oncology appt Nov 13).  We have been keeping ourselves busy to the best of our ability including having to move in April (not far from our last place). My husband started an online clothing and accessory store which has been keeping me busy as his "assistant". Plus he is taking some online courses!! Kids have been distance learning. I am very grateful that my children are flexible but they sooooo miss in-class learning. I have been doing a lot of thinking, praying, contemplating during this time. I came to the conclusion that I want to try working again. Wow that was hard to write. I'm still processing this and praying it works out. I recently applied, and interviewed for a job back at DOR. All thru the process I have been praying, not for the job but that I go the direction God wants me to. Guess what peeps, once I get approval from Calpers...I am there. They offered me the job. I know it may seem weird but I am very nervous and anxious. Actually when I was talking with someone about this idea before I even applied, they said what advise would you (as a voc rehab counselor) tell someone in your situation. I was questioning so many things like about needing time off for my treatments and can I handle the stress, etc. We will try and see what happens.  I hope you all can be supportive of my return to work. I am thankful for the opportunity and for life!!! I am also thankful for a supportive family and friends. Thank you for reading this update. If you need any prayers please comment below or send me a message! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

My go to verse especially now!!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
