It’s been sooooo long, but I am so happy to share Cassie’s latest update:
“One year… what a milestone in the world of cancer, leukemia, and stem cell transplant. It’s been said that when you get your new cells it’s a re-birth. You are in essence starting over. So today, we celebrated! I took the day off work and let kids go to school. I had a relaxing breakfast on my own at the table and got to work on a project I had been putting off! We also had delicious cake and lit a candle and sang a little happy birthday song! It was a good day.
Today was also a visit to the oncologist… my liver has been unhappy for a few months now and we have been trying to figure it out. 2 weeks ago I had my 1 year bone marrow biopsy, and we stopped my maintenance chemo (to see if it would cool off my liver). Today would be labs and results from the biopsy.
REMISSION! We are in remission! Everything that is back has been overwhelming good! We are only anxiously waiting for the microscopic test for my FLT3 mutation (if this comes positive I will go back on the maintenance chemo). But as far as my very conservative oncologist goes we are as good as we can be right now! We also do not have to have another bone marrow biopsy until we hit the 2 year mark! I will continue labs monthly for the next year.”
All glory and honor and praise to God for this amazing news! Keep the prayers coming!
