Newest Update

Journal entry by Kate Snyder

As you can see by the title, this is going to be the last update I write on here. He's still making progress, but it's not significant enough to document regularly, and it's difficult to put into words without confusing everyone. I won't be deleting the page, because I do want him to be able to see the posts and comments eventually.
Regarding all the questions I've gotten, no, he's not talking or walking. With where his injuries are, coordination is going to be difficult for him for the rest of his life so all we know is talking and walking are a long way down the road. He does answer some yes/no questions with gestures though.
The doctors said most people with brain injuries don't remember the last 1-2 years of their lives and don't regain that time, it's very common. Between that and questions that we've asked him where he's indicated yes/no gestures, we definitely think he's lost some time. He doesn't recognize his dog, and he has had her since she was a few months old (she's almost two). That along with a few questions about college and moving away leads us to think he's lost the last few years or large chunks of them.
We appreciate and hope you will continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. This page was not only a way for me to easily update everyone, but also process all of the information being thrown at me, so thank you for sticking around and reading it.
