Newest Update

Journal entry by Carolyn Oakes

Ok, last entry was almost a month ago to the date so here's the update.

The past month was challenging mostly that I feel compelled to sleep a great deal, especially after I make myself busy with activity.  My mind still is foggy and I am not as quick as I usually am.  I seem to enjoy sitting on the porch or in the gazebo with our dog Roscoe and merely listen to birds...and think too much!

Speaking of our old dog Roscoe.  He is with us ay by day and we are enjoying him the best we can and helping him do all the things he wants and likes to do.  Eating and treats are high on that list!  He had a really bad day 2 weeks ago and I thought it was time.  I cried like a baby for 2 days and being the stubborn dog he is he rallied!!  So day by day it is...

In other updates, my annual Meniere's flare up kicked in about 2 weeks ago and I have very limited hearing.  This happens every year in the change of seasons from Spring to Summer and lasts a few weeks, which seems an eternity to me.  Despite hearing limitations I always hear the birds loud and clear...

So in good news, I am happy to see things becoming more normal and people getting together.  I was blessed to have a visit from my friends Kathy Warner Polizzi and husband Sam over Memorial Day weekend.  Visiting from Denver, is was great to have face to face time with them!

Also, as promised, I had a birthday party for my Aunt Janet (my Dad's only sibling) for her 87th.  All the local great nieces and nephews attended and 5 of 6 of the nieces and nephews.  It was a beautiful day filled with sunshine, good food and busy conversations trying to catch up.  Just having everyone together on the patio was a gift.  Aunt Janet said she felt the presence of my Mom and Dad and for that I am grateful.

So I am working on getting a bit more tuned up so I can return to work later next month.  It's my goal.

So there is a snippet of the last month.  Many days are like "Groundhog Day" for me.  At other times, is seems that time flies.  This transplant experience is unique.  I saw my transplant doctor Thursday and my "numbers" are good.   am being transferred back to my hematologist for continued and long term management.  I am sure that means more pills 😕

I hope this finds everyone well and enjoying Summer and relaxed rules for together time with family and friends.  Take care....
