Journal entry by Amy Laue —
Well friends, we made it through the first month without her. Although it seems like a lifetime ago that we celebrated her life, it also feels like yesterday. I still can't believe that it's real, I don't know if it will ever feel real. I keep waiting for her "talk-to-texts" that make no sense and take a few minutes to figure out what she was trying to say, or her random phone calls or visits. I miss her so much, every day. I feel her presence every day, and more than just because her belongings have filled up our basement and garage. As I continue to sort through her things, I am filled with memories, laughs, and happiness and sadness at the same time.
Tonight I finally went through some of the papers and items that have built up on my desk, that I have not yet been able to bring myself to do. I'm happy to say that I will be sending $495 to the American Cancer Society on her behalf. I thank those of you that donated, either to ACS or to our family. I also want to thank those of you that gave food, memorial items, cards, and kind words to our family. It truly helps to know that there are people loving, caring, and thinking about us. I promise I will get "thank you's" out soon, again I just have not been able to bring myself to do it yet. It's been a busy month of adjusting to being back at the office, and of cleaning out her condo, and of trying to just put one foot in front of the other some days. Please know that we appreciate each and every sentiment that has been shared!
