Journal entry by Carol Worsinger —
The good news is that my cancer hasn't grown over the past 3 months. The bad news is that the remaining tumor hasn't shrunk enough to be called remission. The plan is to continue with 3 more cycles of 2 drugs and do another scan. Of course I want it all to be gone I am told that reaching stable is a common and encouraging place to be with ovarian cancer. There is always a chance that the next quarter will result in meaningful shrinkage and if it doesn't than the disease can be managed with maintenance chemo. My doc has many patients in the latter situation and they are routinely given "chemo breaks" to either rest and recharge or to go off on an adventure somewhere.
Patience has never been my strong suit and if this situation doesn't teach me to have this virtue nothing will! But seriously my biggest complaint is that my hair is still extremely short and barely covers my head. But overall life is good- we are still exploring new places in the Atlanta area, enjoying being outside and I feel really good. Little annoyances don't even register with me and I look forward to each new day. I hope you are all managing through these strange times and enjoying life!
