Journal

Lots of exciting things have been going on the last month. As of last week, sweet Caroline had her last eye exam!!! She graduated from needing her eye exams every two weeks, which means her eyes have healed!! We are so thankful for this, because most babies that had gone through what she did or were born as early as she was would need eye surgery. But God has been steadfast and faithful throughout this whole process and sweet baby girl just needed time to heal. That's pretty much been her MO this entire time...just needed time to heal and grow. She won't need anymore eye exams for another year. We are so thankful for this outcome.

Caroline is now almost 13 lbs as well! She is filling out so nicely and has the cutest chunky cheeks. And since viral season came to an end, grandpa Dan was finally able to be added to her visitor list and meet his granddaughter after all these months. The last time grandpa Dan was able to see her was the day she was born. It was such a sweet reunion and we are glad for the time they got to spend together.

Babygirl has a procedure today (5/1/2024), so please be praying that goes well and she handles it like a champ. She will be getting a NG tube with a bridal put in, so that's just one step closer to getting her to go home.  Mom and Dad chose to go this route rather than continue to stay in the NICU and work on feeding by bottle which would take weeks. Please be praying that she is able to learn to feed by mouth seemingly at home. She had learned to breastfeed and take a bottle, but has since regressed. Please pray that once they are home, that she takes well to feeding by mouth. We would all love to avoid having to go from a NG tube to a G tube (feeding through the stomach). Stayed tuned for some exciting things happening in the next two weeks as the next post won't be an update from the NICU!!! Thank you all for your continued prayers and love for this family. God truly is at work in this story!
