Journal entry by Jordan Ferguson

Well this has been an interesting week.

On Sunday mom was discharged from the rehab facility.  They had a few days at home before driving back to Gainesville on Tuesday.  Mom had a follow up with the surgeon and the first consult with the oncologist.  The surgeon removed the final sutures and stitches and said that Mom is healing well from the surgery.  The oncologist spent several hours with my parents discussing the chemo treatment plan and what side effects she may have from the ordeal.  At this time we are looking at about 18 week time frame for my parents to go back and forth from Port Saint Lucie to Gainesville for treatments.  After 18 weeks they will evaluate how well she is responding to treatments.  During the appointment with the oncologist my parents were told that after reviewing the pathology report and the surgeon's report, mom's cancer was reclassified as stage 4 by how many organs the cancer touched and were removed during surgery.  It has not changed anything in treatment plans or how well mom is doing it is just for the record.

Today my parents will head home from Gainesville and will be back on Monday for the port to be placed in mom. Chemo will start in the next week or two.
