Carol’s Story

Site created on March 19, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.  My mom was diagnosed with metastasized melanoma in late February. It’s in the lining of one lung, in some lymph nodes, and in some bones. The oncologist said it cannot be cured, and that chemo doesn’t work on melanoma. It can be managed, like diabetes. They’ll be testing to see what specific mutation her melanoma is, then putting her on specific medication for it for the rest of her life. The medication helps her own immune system to fight the melanoma from spreading further. I'm living in Washington DC and my father Dennis is care taking mostly alone. This sight is for updates and also for coordinating help, errands, favors and tasks. Thank you for visiting.

Journal entry by Paula D. Atkinson

Hello Loved Ones,

We have decided to bring a significant amount of Mom's yoga supplies; including props, books, and various other things to the celebration on Saturday to give people the opportunity to take what they'd like. Please be ready to choose some pieces of Carol's yoga legacy to take home and perhaps make a part of your own practice.

Thank you. See you all very soon.
