Carmen’s Story

Site created on March 3, 2023

Hi, I am Carmen.  I come from a large well blended family with lots of love for each other.  I am married to my best friend and together we have the perfect blend of 5 boys.  Jeremy and his wife Kelly, Jordan and his wife Mari, Joshua and his partner for life Amy, Sam and Hayden.  We also have two beautiful granddaughters Kennedy and Lanie. I also have a sister Amy and her husband Wayne, Haley and her husband Matt, Janah and her husband Jon and a brother Joey and his wife Dana.  And many nieces and nephews.

My cancer story started on November 17, 2022 when I was admitted into the hospital with a huge lump on my lower right back.  They drained the lump and did surgery on November 21st where it was discovered that I have Colon Cancer.  Since then it has been a world wind of testing and additional scans.  I am currently under the care of an amazing medical team at Rex Cancer/UNC Cancer Center and chemo treatments started on February 27th. I am so grateful for their guidance and personal care.

I want to thank everyone for your continued support and prayers.  And please if you feel like something isn't right, you know your body better than anyone, go see your doctor.  I made a huge mistake of not taking my doctor's advice during a regular checkup and doing the Cologuard test.  Looking back now it  may have given us the signs that something wasn't right.
