Carmen’s Story

Site created on December 17, 2022

On November 26th, mom went into the Little Falls Emergency Room because she was having intense stomach pain. A day or two into her being in the ER, it was discovered that she had a bowel blockage and was admitted into the hospital. On November 30, mom went into surgery to remove the bowel blockage and the surgeon saw what he believed to be the return of mom's lymphoma cancer. During the surgery, the surgeon took some tissue samples from her stomach, liver, kidneys, intestines and colons to be sent for further testing. December 7th, the pathology results came back and mom and dad were told that mom had Circle Cell Adenocarcinoma Stage 4, which is an organ cancer that originated in her stomach. ~Heather

Newest Update

Journal entry by Carmen Britz

Mom stayed in the hospital for a week with the double pneumonia and RSV. She seems to get better each day but she still seems out a breath and coughs but I know that some of that is from the cancer itself. She did end up getting diagnosed with Cdiff because of all the high medications that she was given in the hospital. It is highly contagious so she’s being very careful on not giving it to dad or anyone else.

This week is a chemo week for her and her second round since her hospital stay. Please pray for her to stay healthy and get over this Cdiff. Also, please keep dad in your prayers as he’ll be going in here at the end of the month for another shoulder surgery.

I'll try to be better with the updates but unfortunately my daycare and I have been hit with lots of sickness in the past month
