Carl was a beautiful soul who lived his life with grace, gratitude, and only love. Share memories, photos, and condolences in the Well Wishes part of this page. Due to the circumstances of COVID, we will only be having a small family only service on May 2nd held at our lifelong chapel by the sea. Thank you for visiting.
In lieu of flowers, spread joy and kindness to others and appreciate the natural world around us as Carl did his entire life.
From all of his loving family

Journal entry by Hannah Miller

Heaven has become a little brighter...a  beautiful soul, who lived his life with grace, gratitude, and only love...made his journey to heaven…a husband, a father, a gramps, and an educator...simply the best. His faithful heart, his brilliant mind, and his humble and graceful attitude made all who knew him love and admire him.

He was the best husband any woman could dream of, a dad that loved, guided, and protected his children and a Gramps that cherished his grandchildren who adored him. His family was his life and he loved and lived by example. He was the captain of our ship and led us all with strength, courage and grace even when the tides grew rough. His faith kept the ship steady until the tides would calm. His goodness was great.

He flew for the Air Force, was a lifeguard , a teacher, an educator, a football coach, a Biologist, a water ski instructor, an oceanography instructor. He touched many lives in all he did and truly loved what he did.

He loved all things nature. He saw beauty in the simple things. The ocean in which he surfed and enjoyed, the beautiful wildflowers in the desert, the snow covered mountains where we skied as a family. He saw beauty and appreciated the wonders of this world.

We will feel him now in the ocean, we will hear him when the songbirds sing, we will see him in the rain and in the brilliant blue skies, and we will be reminded of him in all that is beautiful in this world. We will carry him in our hearts and we will fly with him when God is ready for us.

This man, husband, father and gramps loved and was loved by all. He lived with grace and love and he died with grace and love. His light will shine upon us forever. We love you Gramps! Thank you for everything you have given in this world. Shine your light and fly!
