Carl’s Story

Site created on March 12, 2024

Welcome to our CaringBridge website.

Carl had a small stroke in February and found out at that time that he had pancreatic cancer that was not curable. Making a difficult decision as a family they chose home hospice so Carl can be surrounded by love and comfort in this stage of celebrating the life he has lived and support him and family as he leaves this life he’s known. Carl is spirited, has great humor and determination and is facing this time with Carol by his side, and with wit and bravery as anyone might expect of him.

Help us all support him and those that love him by checking in here, following the site so you get updates right to your in box!

We are at home, getting started with much care! Days are busy and full.

If you’d like to visit you can contact me, or send a message through this site!  I will post here is there are specific needs, but for now we are managing well. Love to all!

Journal entry by Carol Estey

What a blessing today has been.  Carl and our oldest son Kurt had coffee, an apple turnover and a loving time of sharing❤️. Our daughter Sara came and brought Carl one of his favorite foods - green beans from Hunan Restaurant here in Bloomington. I think daddy has her wrapped around his finger😂. Our son Daniel just came, wearing his great grandfather’s bib overalls (Carls grandfather).  He brought samples of the treats from Bluefin’s owner weekend - including a mostly empty dish soap bottle😇.  The Lord has blessed us with three beautiful children.  A beautiful day on our journey to Carls everlasting life
