Hi there! Back for an update on my progress and lack there of. Last week I spent two days at Mayo for bloodwork, chemotherapy, physician visits, and immunotherapy. My schedule is set up until July and I have three days of fun that I may need an accomplice for. Reach out if you may want to spend the day together ( a chunk of it I sleep thru so bring a coloring book or some needlepoint). The days are Wed. June 5th, I begin at 8:00 and go till about 4:00 (plus travel 1.5 hours each way). The next day is Wed June 26th 7:20-4:00 plus travel, and Monday July 15th 7:00-5:00 plus travel. I have a few other days that I am able to bring myself because I will not be having any Benadryl, just radioactive sugars for a PET scan. That scan is June 25th so I will then know how well things are going with the chemo and radiation that I had back in April. We couldn’t scan my lungs and kidney right away because after the zapping the spots, they will be lit up which is how they look when they are active and we don’t want to confuse activity for damaged pissed off tissue. Hence the two plus month break for healing and settling.
Kendall has moved back home for the summer and when we delivered her in the fall we made one trip. This time two trips to collect her belongings were in order. Her things multiplied and I went early in the day for one load, then Paul went later and collected the rest. It is very nice having her home and her first year of art school was very successful. She also went from zero jobs to two in one afternoon, there are many moving parts around here now that the kids are working. Gavin wasn’t a fan of washing dishes so his first job is already on its way out.
I spent the weekend up north at Mom’s and we attended the first ever scholarship award ceremony  at the new Rock Ridge high school to award a lovely gal a scholarship in my Dad’s name and we had two of his teacher friends to give it to her. Thank you Uncle Omar and Uncle Pat for doing this for us. I actually had both of these men as elementary teachers and having to call them Mr. St. Lawrence and Mr. Bastianelli was odd after always referring to them as “Uncle”. Congratulations to Alyssa for being a great choice and pursuing a future in elementary education. Frank would be proud of you.
My energy level and stamina has been pretty low, I seem to be taking a break more that I am working on something. It’s not what I am used to but when your body tells you to stop and breathe, you do it. I have had 6 chemo sessions since the beginning of the year and it just keeps knocking me down. I hope scans will show great improvements and then I may take a break from all the poison.
I also just lost a very special lady in my life unexpectedly. I met her about 6 months ago but spent 2-3 mornings with her each week and now feel lost that she is gone. I miss you Miss Debbie❤️❤️
This week will be garden planting, Paul moved my raised beds in order to capture more sun and I have some seedlings started inside. They look pretty wimpy so I will be buying some plants as well. Excited to dig some gold out of my compost bin, the snakes that usually live in there are not back yet. Maybe they will stay away. Yuk!!!!!
I hope you all are well and loving the start to summer.
Love to you all, XOXO, Carrie
