Journal entry by Libby W.

Hey y'all, I know this week has been a bit of a wild ride and while the journey continues to be full of unknowns here are a few things Sheryl wanted to share with y'all because she is ever the kind soul and optimist.

1. While the original chemo meds were not effective, the doctors had a plan in the wings for a different chemo option and today Sheryl was able to start that new round of chemo!

2. After what must have felt like forever, today Sheryl was given the green light to try clear liquids and a popsicle. So far this week, she had only been allowed ice chips. This is definitely a step in the right direction and Sheryl has never been so excited for a little bit of chicken broth.

3. Sheryl is determined to fight for all the tomorrows she can get and is feeling encouraged by the words the oncologist said to her today, "As long as there are options, we will fight."

4. Sheryl has been greatly touched and encouraged by your kindness and support. She would like pictures of your pets though as smuggling dogs into the hospital has been frowned upon lol

We've had some big talks this week y'all and the thing I hope I can impress upon everyone who is waiting for news is that while Sheryl is physically down, she is by no means out. It is inspiring to be able to bear witness to her quiet determination, her resolve to fight for each and every tomorrow. She has not lost her desire to see the best in life, to laugh regularly, pet as many furry faces as she can,  and to return to her regularly scheduled chaos.

Spread kindness with reckless abandon y'all,
Libby

PS
I've been asked about it and so just a heads up that I added more days to the meal train. The help that y'all have given through meals and gift cards has lifted an untold amount of weight off the family. I have been asked to provide some updates to it in terms of food preferences and I am working to pull that together so watch for that in the next day or so :) Cummings Family Meal Train

The picture attached is from my visit to MN the last week of March. I haven't shared it with many folks because it is a moment I am holding close to my heart but I hope that seeing Sheryl's smile (even if its almost a month old) will bring y'all some of the joy it brings me.
