Camron’s Story

Site created on March 29, 2023

Friends and family,

As many of you know, Camron was diagnosed with testicular cancer in early March. We have been overwhelmed with gratitude for the people in our lives who have reached out to offer support, encouragement, and prayer; God has blessed us with an amazing community! Thank you for your continued prayers and support as we navigate this new season of life. We will be posting updates on this site for those who would like to follow along. We love you all.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Caitlyn Roehl

Hey everyone,

It's been a minute since I've posted an update on Camron, but we have some good news to share! Camron had his surgery at Mayo a few weeks ago and everything went as planned. Thirty total lymph nodes were removed from his abdomen and sent to pathology, and we received a call from one of the doctors last week that all pathology results came back negative! The leftover stuff that showed up on Camron's follow-up CT scan in July was just dead cancer cells, praise God!

Recovery has been a little more difficult for Camron than we both anticipated, but each week comes with good improvement. He experienced a lot of back and hip pain the first couple weeks after surgery, but that has been starting to feel much better for him. The other big thing bugging him has been his digestive system/tummy, but this is a temporary side effect we were told he would experience post-op. He's been able to walk a little longer and stand up a little straighter each day, and he really feels like he's gained some of his strength back. Camron didn't have much of an appetite for the first week and a half post-op, and he's on a low-fat diet while his body readjusts, so that's made it a little harder for him to keep weight on and maintain good energy levels. Recovery should last roughly 6 weeks, so we're halfway there!

Thank you so much for your continued checking-in, prayers, and encouragement! We feel so cared for.

Prayer requests:

- Praise for a successful surgery and successful treatment that cured Camron of cancer!

- Praise for God's mercy and grace in our lives.

- Prayers for Camron's health as he continues to recover; that he wouldn't feel discouraged, and that both his strength and appetite would be quick to come back.
