Newest Update

Journal entry by Katelyn Roth

We are thrilled to announce that we got to bring our sweet Millie home from the NICU this past Friday! Our hearts are so full to have our little girl at home with us.

The last two weeks in the NICU were a whirlwind with many ups and downs. The NICU team shared with us that the last few weeks of being in the NICU are often the hardest, and many parents get “NICU-itis.” We could see our little girl growing and doing all the things that the medical team wanted but would then have little setbacks making it clear that Millie was not quite ready to make the transition home. In the past week, Millie was finally doing well enough with her bottle feeding/growth and no longer having bradycardia/apnea events, so the medical team finally felt she was ready to come home. It was the best feeling to ring the bell outside of the NICU and finally take the walk out to the car that we had seen so many new families get to experience over our time in the hospital. We are incredibly grateful to the St. David’s Medical Center team for the lifesaving care both Millie and Katelyn received.

Our first days at home have been wonderful. We are adjusting and learning a new routine. Millie is quite a night owl, so we have been getting many late-night snuggles. Her big brothers are in love and check on her with every sound she makes (especially Tito). We will now focus on spending time as a family and enjoying our sweet baby. We don’t plan to post any more updates here, but we want to thank you for the prayers, positive energy, and support over the past two months. Millie’s NICU journey was not easy, but we know the love and prayers made all of the difference in getting all of us through such a difficult time.

Much Love,

Katelyn and Blake
