Cami’s Story

Site created on July 2, 2022

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated all in one place regarding my bone marrow/ stem cell transplant journey. As most of you know, I was born with a very rare blood disorder (Congenital dyserythropoietic anemia type 1 or CDA type 1) that causes my bone marrow to make my red blood cells incorrectly.  My condition has worsened over the last 5 years and we have exhausted all treatment options. A stem cell bone marrow transplant is the only cure and is my best hope for a better and longer life.  We will try to post updates at least once a week. Your support and words of hope and encouragement are greatly appreciated. Thank you for visiting!

Journal entry by Amy Briscoe-Eagle

Cami passed away peacefully in their sleep this morning just how they had hoped it would happen. They did not want a funeral but asked that we plan a party for later this year (date etc tbd).

Today in their memory we ask that you do any of the following: wear Cam’s favorite color purple, dance with abandon to your favorite song, watch a Marvel or Harry Potter movie, blow some bubbles, eat some sushi, look for dinosaurs, make a beaded bracelet or necklace, hug your friends and tell them what they mean to you, go to a skate park and try out the ramps, watch a cheesy Disney channel original movie, love on a puppy, add some glitter to  your makeup today, wear a fun pair of earrings, take some pics of nature or with your friends and pets, have some coffee ice cream or better yet a Coffee Frappuccino, donate blood, and, of course, take care of yourself.

If you feel inclined to make a donation, these are places that Cam suggested: We Are Blood, Be The Match, Beautifully Loved, Hospice Austin/Christopher House, the Trevor Project, Equality Texas, or your local Ronald McDonald House.

Thanks to everyone who has surrounded us with love and support. We love you all❤️
