Cameron’s Story

Site created on March 5, 2023

Cameron was born at 36 weeks. He showed a small sign of respiratory distress and was immediately whisked away to chkd. He was then diagnosed with PPHN and CLD. We spent 8 months at the chkd nicu and then finally was able to take our baby home. We were always told his lungs were going to get bigger and stronger and he would get better and outgrow his pulmonary hypertension. Cameron got better at times in the last 2+ years  and other times not so much, he got multiple virus’s including Covid, rsv, and adeno. Each one setting us back further and further. After getting adeno pneumonia after Christmas 2023, he never fully recovered. Chkd said none of this was making sense and decided Cam needed to be transferred to UVA where we met up with a PH doctor who is amazing and wanted to help us figure out what was going on with Cameron.   To make a long story short, he figured out it was still Cams lung causing his hypertension.. and they believe him to have chILD. Which stands for child interstitia lung disease. There are a few of these, some get better, some get worse,  some stay about the same. We are not sure which one Cam has so they wish to do a biopsy. And that is where we are at now at UVA. I am going to do my best or do updates here. 🫶🏻🙏🏻💗

Edit to add
** Cameron was then later diagnosed with PVOD a rare lung disease and the only cure is a lung transplant

Newest Update

Journal entry by Anna Glandon

It’s hard to write updates. It truly is. Cameron in the last month has had multiple infections and there have been countless nights of Nick and I going to bed crying and worrying. I am happy to say he has cleared them again and cleared for lungs as of this moment. Praise the lord. This roller coaster has been so hard on all of us especially Cameron. And we have good days and bad days. Today I got some smiles so that always feels good. We have been spending the days traveling back and forth from the hospital and spending time with Cora. We are so grateful to be able to be close by to both our babies. And appreciate everyday the endless love, prayers, and support we get. Sometimes I feel like that Jack Johnson song “ Well I was sitting, waiting, wishing”
