Cam Elliot successfully came off the ventilator yesterday! Praise God for each miracle we see along the way. The plan moving forward is to attempt to move his feeds to his NG tube (which you see inserted into his nasal passage) from a line direct to his small intestines. It is important that he is able to learn to take a bottle (or feeds by mouth) in the next 2-3 weeks as that is the critical window for babies to lose the reflex which prevents liquid from entering the lungs. We are still patiently awaiting news of a heart and Mom and Dad are splitting time between ACH in Little Rock and being home with Kai in Fayetteville. We ask that you continue to pray for his donors family, that he can sustain oxygen levels off the ventilator, and against any infection. It will be a long road, but our ultimate prayer is that Cam comes home able to live a full life with his new heart.
